Peter Jay is a dedicated music educator with a strong focus on violin and viola performance. He completed his undergraduate studies at Berklee College of Music, earning a degree in Violin and Viola Performance with a minor in English. He further honed his craft at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, UK, where he specialized in traditional Scottish music.

Peter Jay’s teaching credentials are extensive. He has guided students on violin, viola, cello, and bass for college auditions, helping many gain admission to prestigious programs.  He has a proven track record of preparing students for region and all-state auditions and served as the Audition Chair for the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) from 2021 to 2023.

As the director of a successful high school strings program, Peter Jay's orchestras consistently achieved ratings of Gold and Superior with Distinction at competitions, showcasing his commitment to excellence. He holds a New Jersey Teaching Certificate in Music K-12 and is dedicated to nurturing both young and adult learners in their musical journeys.

In his lessons, Peter Jay emphasizes a well-rounded approach that includes scales, music theory, improvisation, and various styles. He believes that versatility is essential, especially as the demand for string players continues to grow. Whether preparing for auditions or simply exploring music for enjoyment, Peter fosters a supportive and enriching environment where all students can thrive.
